A small vase all in roundness which questions: is it metal? Is it ceramic? This is what craftsman Shu Hirai thought about for his Kurogane series. Inspired by the metal ornamental pieces of the temples of Kyoto (where he lives), he worked for a long time to translate them into ceramic. He uses a very hard red clay on the potter's wheel, creating pieces that he will fire twice, with in the middle the application with a brush and a sponge of 2 types of glazes, one based on manganese and the other on copper.

The result is a vase with a magnificent patina and the play of metallic reflections, a precious object of decoration in the spirit of wabi sabi that will bring all the delicate beauty of Japan into your home.
