Japanese box "tea by the river".

Sale price€250,00

A box assembled by us especially for the holidays, conveying all the beauty of Japan. In this unique set, which will be wrapped in a magnificent blue square fabric brought back from Seoul and dexterously tied using the immutable Korean pojagi technique, with a label and a maedup (decorative knot), you will find:

  • A vintage ozashiki kago bag. This typically Japanese bag is the one used by maiko when they go to formal appointments (okazashiki, tea house events), in which they put their personal belongings. The ozashiki kago is made by true craftsmen: a solid base of finely woven bamboo, a supple fabric adapted to the season (here in blue silk and chirimen - silk crepe with a twisted weft thread - blue and white shibori), and a braided cord to close it. This bag is vintage, about a hundred years old, and in very good condition (note a few small spots of discolouration and tears, particularly on the inner lining, but these have no effect on the beauty of the object).
  • A Nankei teapot in unglazed matt natural clay, rich in iron, ideal for enhancing the richness of tea, with a beautiful, simple and pure design and a capacity of 150ml. It is made in Mie prefecture.
  • A delicate ceramic cup with a beautiful light green glaze, hand crafted by Kentaro Murayama in Karatsu.
  • A mat of beautiful vintage indigo-dyed fabric, reworked in the contemporary boro style, double-layered with white stitching.
