OBJECTS TO LIVE
SEKIMORI
WARA's Sekimori reinterpret an ancient Japanese gesture: binding stone and natural fiber to preserve the tranquility of a place, marking the threshold of a space to be respected. The union of stone and natural fibers (precious purified hemp or elegant rice straw), hand-woven in the spirit of shimenawa (sacred ropes), invites us today to recreate in our interiors a place imbued with silence and attention.
Each Sekimori is a unique piece, each stone being chosen for its singularity, and its braiding, entirely done by hand, bearing the mark of the gesture of the artist, Eri, founder of WARA.
Culture and know-how
THE SEKIMORI-ISHI
In the calm of Japanese gardens, a stone woven from natural fibers marks the invisible boundary between the movement of the world and inner tranquility. Discovering the purpose of these stones and their importance in Japanese culture is approaching the art of the threshold, which allows the serenity of a space to be preserved through the mere presence of a sign.
