Ash-glazed plate from the Tokinoha workshop

Sale price€56,00

A delicate multi-functional plate whose green glaze, nuanced with soft blues, gives great depth to the piece. The darker center catches the light, while the fine brown drips subtly enliven the interior. This Japanese ceramic piece, both balanced and refined, naturally finds its place on a table for everyday use or as a beautiful decorative object.

The Ceramist
Founded in Kyoto by Daisuke and Tomoe Kiyomizu, the Tokinoha studio distinguishes itself with an approach that bridges traditional expertise and contemporary design (Daisuke is a descendant of the famous Kiyomizu family, guardians of the Kyoto kiyomizu-yaki tradition). The pieces, handcrafted by the studio's ceramists, bear the mark of reflection on simplicity and texture, seeking to express the beauty of everyday life through pure, balanced forms.

Technique and Decor
A glazed Japanese ceramic piece, this plate features an ash glaze (haiyū) that creates this nuanced green which can lean towards a pale blue near the edge. A finely drawn network of crackles (kannyū) covers the surface and enhances the effect of depth. In the center, a slight accumulation of glaze creates a darker tone. The brownish internal drips signal the fusion of the glaze and the presence of natural oxides from the clay and ash.
