Tokinoha workshop ash-glazed Mamezara plate

Sale price€58,00

Mamezara plate (small plate intended for small portions and side dishes) in Japanese ceramic with a green glaze, nuanced with soft blues, offering beautiful depth, while its darker center captures the light and fine brown drippings subtly enliven the interior. Balanced, refined, heavy, and dense, it can be used daily, as an incense holder, to present a small pastry or object, or simply placed as a decorative piece.

The Ceramist
Founded in Kyoto by Daisuke and Tomoe Kiyomizu, the Tokinoha studio is distinguished by an approach that connects traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design (Daisuke is a descendant of the famous Kiyomizu family, guardians of the Kyoto kiyomizu-yaki tradition). The pieces, handcrafted by the studio's ceramists, bear the mark of a reflection on simplicity and texture, seeking to express the beauty of the everyday through pure and balanced forms.

Technique and decor
A glazed Japanese ceramic piece, this mamezara plate features an ash glaze (haiyū) that gives it this nuanced green, which can lean toward pale blue near the edge. The finely drawn network of crackles (kannyū) covers the surface and enhances the effect of depth. In the center, a slight accumulation of glaze creates a darker tone. The burnished internal drippings signal the fusion of the glaze and the presence of natural oxides from the clay and ash.
