Ceramic bowl with copper glaze from the Tokinoha studio

Sale price€85,00

Japanese ceramic bowl whose organic silhouette and deep blue glaze give it a refined presence, in the spirit of Kyoto ceramics. To be used on a table or as a beautiful decorative object.

The ceramicist
Founded in Kyoto by Daisuke and Tomoe Kiyomizu, the Tokinoha studio is distinguished by an approach that connects traditional expertise with contemporary design (Daisuke is a descendant of the famous Kiyomizu family, guardians of the tradition of Kyoto's kiyomizu-yaki). The pieces, handmade by the studio’s ceramicists, reflect a focus on simplicity and texture, seeking to express the beauty of everyday life through pure, balanced forms.

The technique and the glaze
This bowl is covered in a copper glaze that develops a deep blue, punctuated by brown and turquoise highlights, during firing. This type of glaze, characteristic of the research conducted at the Tokinoha studio, features a slightly granular surface and a subtle luster resulting from the uneven fusion of copper at high temperatures. Depending on the thickness of the glaze and variations in the fire, the color deepens or lightens, creating the subtle transitions and near-metallic vibration unique to Tokinoha pieces.
