Aomori Hiba Wood Incense and Essential Oil Box
Aomori hiba , considered the noblest and most fragrant variety of Japanese woods, is a rare treasure of nature. Endemic to Japan, this exceptional cypress is found in the ancient forests in the far north of Honshu Island, in the Aomori region, and is prized for its durability, its natural resistance to insects and mold, and its exceptional, unique, sweet and soothing fragrance.
These characteristics make it one of the most sought-after woods for the construction of shrines, traditional baths (ofuro), and for precious handicrafts.
This box was imagined and assembled by us during our recent trip to Japan and Aomori to make you discover this other side of Japanese woods. It will be wrapped in a beautiful white square cotton fabric knotted with dexterity according to the immutable technique of Korean pojagi, which makes it the ideal gift to offer or to treat yourself.
In this box you will find:
- A beautiful Japanese box with a blue chrysanthemum motif (the motif is applied with a stencil using traditional yuzen techniques) made by the artisans of Shofudo (Kyoto) in thick oiled Japanese washi paper, giving it great solidity (dimensions: L17cm x W13cm x H5.2cm).
- A box of 320 incense sticks (length of each stick 13.5cm) composed of Aomori Hiba essence and an odorous mixture that immediately projects into Japanese forests when burned.
- A bottle (20ml) of natural essential oil of Aomori Hiba, to be used for example in a bath (3 to 4 drops), for cleaning floors (5 to 10 drops in the cleaning water), on stones (3 to 5 drops) placed in a bowl, on pieces of neutral wood (3 to 5 drops) to then place in drawers and cupboards to keep insects away. The enveloping scent of Aomori hiba will bring a lot of serenity at different times of the day.
Please refer to the instructions below before using any incense and essential oil.

Incense should always be placed on a support and supervised, do not leave children alone near it. To light a stick, bring a flame close to the end and wait for the incense to ignite, then blow gently to extinguish the flame. Make sure to position the stick straight on the incense holder so that the ashes fall into the plate. Extinguish the incense if you have to leave. Keep out of reach of children. ESSENTIAL OIL: Do not use directly on the skin (if you want to use it on the body, dilute the essential oil before). Do not use in the bath if you are pregnant. Do not ingest.
