Aomori Hiba Wood Incense and Essential Oil Box
The Aomori hiba, considered the noblest and most fragrant variety of Japanese wood, is a rare treasure of nature. Endemic to Japan, this exceptional cypress is found in the ancient forests of northern Honshu Island, in the Aomori region, and is prized for its durability, natural resistance to insects and mold, and its exceptional, unique, sweet, and soothing fragrance.
These characteristics make it one of the most sought-after woods for the construction of shrines, traditional baths (ofuro), and for precious handcrafted objects.
This box was designed and assembled by us during our trip to Aomori to introduce you to another facet of Japanese wood. It will be wrapped in a beautiful square of white or blue cotton fabric, skillfully knotted using the time-honored Korean pojagi technique, making it the perfect gift to give or to receive.
In this box you will find:
- A beautiful Japanese box with a blue chrysanthemum pattern (the pattern is applied using a stencil according to traditional yuzen techniques) made by artisans from Shofudo (Kyotō) in thick oiled Japanese washi paper, giving it great strength (dimensions: L17cm x W13cm x H5.2cm).
- A box of 320 incense sticks (length of each stick 13.5cm) composed of Hiba essence from Aomori and a fragrant blend that immediately transports you to Japanese forests when burned.
- A 20ml bottle of natural Aomori Hiba essential oil, to be used, for example, in a bath (3 to 4 drops), for cleaning floors (5 to 10 drops in the cleaning water), on stones (3 to 5 drops) placed in a small dish, or on pieces of neutral wood (3 to 5 drops) to be placed in drawers and cupboards to repel insects. The enveloping scent of Aomori Hiba will bring a sense of serenity at different times of the day.
Please refer to the instructions below before using any incense and essential oil.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE : INCENSE: Incense should always be placed on a stand and supervised. Do not leave children unattended near it. To light a stick, bring a flame close to the end and wait for the incense to ignite, then gently blow out the flame. Ensure the stick is positioned upright on the incense holder so the ashes fall into the dish. Extinguish the incense if you need to leave. Keep out of reach of children. ESSENTIAL OIL: Do not use directly on the skin (if you wish to use it on the body, dilute the essential oil first). Do not use in the bath if you are pregnant. Do not ingest.
