Kōgō and Nerikō box set, the art of Japanese incense
In the art of Japanese incense, the kōgō , a small decorative box, serves as a precious showcase to present the nerikō , these incense balls fashioned from natural ingredients and subtly scented. Together, they embody the harmony between utility and beauty, inviting a sensory experience deeply rooted in Japanese tradition.
This box was imagined and assembled by us especially for the Holidays to make you discover this other facet of Japanese incense. It will be wrapped in a magnificent white cotton square fabric knotted with dexterity according to the immutable technique of Korean pojagi, with a label, which makes it the ideal gift to offer or to treat yourself.
In this box you will find:
- A beautiful one Japanese box with a structure made of traditional washi paper on which braided and lacquered cashew strips have been applied, giving it remarkable solidity and beauty (dimensions: L17.5cm x W13.5cm x H5cm).
- A kōgō (small box), made by the very famous craftsman Baba Tadahiro, based in Takaoka (Toyama Prefecture) in cast iron, representing an owl, symbol of protection and luck (dimensions: L5.5cm x W5.5cm x H1.7cm).
- A box containing 36 nerikō beads, each composed of a delicately scented blend. To use them, place 2-3 in the kōgō, and leave the lid ajar. If you want to stop the diffusion of the scent, simply close the lid. The nerikō beads should be replaced when they become dry. Be careful to store the unused nerikō in the hermetically sealed plastic bag so that they do not dry out.
