Japanese long incense set and tin incense holder, dragonfly yuzen box
A gift box designed and assembled by us, embodying all the beauty and delicacy of Japanese incense. This box will also be wrapped in a magnificent square of fabric brought back from Seoul, skillfully knotted using the time-honored Korean pojagi technique, making it the perfect gift to give or receive.
In this box you will find:
- A large Japanese box (L28cm - W20cm - H3.2cm) made of thick red cardboard covered with paper ( (with a dragonfly motif) Yuzen made from kozo, a traditional paper crafted from the long fibers of the kozo mulberry tree, renowned for their strength and flexibility. Yuzen is produced through a manual screen-printing process where each color is applied separately using stencils, resulting in crisp, precise designs. Here, the dragonflies, slightly raised, appear in red against a dark background. This delicate motif, common in Japanese art, evokes tenacity and good fortune. The box's generous dimensions make it suitable for a variety of uses.
- Two boxes of traditional Japanese incense, with approximately 110 long sticks (24.5cm each) in each box. In the temples of Kyoto, surrounded by tall trees, where old floors creak underfoot, psalms escape from behind closed doors and wisps of incense perfume the air. A unique atmosphere entirely concentrated in these beautiful incenses, created around a blend of woods and fragrant materials, exactly like those that can be smelled in temples. This incense was created by Toyoda Aizando, who had been established in Kyoto for several centuries. In association with the nearby Chion-in temple, he created incense and objects for religious use. The incense sticks are long and can be cut into two or three pieces depending on the desired burning time.
- A very stylish and contemporary pewter incense holder, created in a foundry in Toyama Prefecture. Its innovative design is based on a rectangular plate (18.5cm long x 4.5cm wide x 0.2cm high), surprisingly flexible thanks to the purity of the metal, which can be freely bent to create the desired line or curve. Its small opening holds an incense stick, and the whole piece offers a modular gesture where the form is reinvented with each use. It returns to its original shape just as easily, so its shapes can be varied according to the length of the incense stick used.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE : Incense should always be placed on a stand and supervised. Do not leave children unattended near it. To light a stick, bring a flame close to the end and wait for the incense to ignite, then gently blow out the flame. Ensure the stick is positioned so that the ashes fall into the incense holder (cut the stick in half if it is too long). Extinguish the incense if you need to leave. Keep out of reach of children.
