Blue-green bowl by Tomoe Kiyomizu

Sale price€120,00

This bowl by Tomoe Kiyomizu is distinguished by its soft blue-green hue and the purity of its form. Slightly rounded, it evokes the calm surface of the moon reflected on water. Its subtle glaze, with its hues changing according to the light, expresses the delicacy and simplicity characteristic of everyday Japanese ceramics.

The ceramist
Tomoe Kiyomizu and her husband, Daisuke Kiyomizu, founded the TOKINOHA workshop in Kyoto's Kiyomizu district. Coming from a long line of potters, they reinterpret the Kiyomizu-yaki style with a contemporary sensibility, combining purity of form with light, nuanced glazes. Their work aims to create Japanese ceramics for refined everyday use, imbued with softness and serenity.

The technique and the decor
Handcrafted from fine stoneware, this bowl is covered with a pale blue-green glaze characteristic of Tomoe Kiyomizu's work. The high-temperature firing gives the surface a soft, natural sheen, with slight variations in tone reminiscent of the reflections of aquatic light. The simple, open form emphasizes the balance between function and beauty. This bowl can be used for small portions or as an object of contemplation.
