Large vase-sculpture by artist Kazuhiko Sato (Japan)

€1.200
.

An exceptional large vase-sculpture, a highly decorative piece whose presence captures the eye and sublimates the space in which it stands. This spectacular piece, which conveys deep emotion, is the work of Kazuhiko Sato.

Sato san is a ceramist of great renown in Japan, born in 1947 in Fujisawa (Kanagawa prefecture), and a graduate of the prestigious ceramics department of Tokyo University of the Arts. He was a student of Michi Kajimoto and Koichi Tamura, 2 immense Japanese potters who are National Living Treasures.

Kazuhiko Sato's work has been shown in major exhibitions and galleries around the world (London, New York, Sydney...) including many solo exhibitions, and he has won numerous awards for his outstanding work.

For this vase-sculpture he used a combination of Shigaraki and Seto clays with quartz inclusions, which he shaped by hand with an extremely complicated personal technique, giving the surface its rough, sandy feel and this organic yet very balanced form. A work of contemporary art accentuated by abstract silver lines, yet timeless and profoundly Japanese.

This vase-sculpture is signed at the base “SATOH” (Kazuhiko Sato's usual signature) and 80 (for 1980, the year it was made), in Roman letters, as well as with the artist's coat of arms. It comes in a beautiful wooden protective box, closed with a sanadahimo cord.

A video has been added to the photo carousel to illustrate the size (which is also also very heavy) of this unique piece.
