Small Ceramic Cloud Plate by Shu Hirai

A small plate with a beautiful textured patina and a delicate "cloudy" like blue. This is the work of artisan Shu Hirai for his Kakugi series, who to achieve this unique blue and texture worked around an addition of cobalt blown with a straw applied after an initial firing. An additional white glaze was applied in small strokes with a sponge to create this textured effect.

The result is a precious object for everyday use, to put a small pastry with tea for example, or for decoration, a wabi sabi spirit that will bring all the delicate beauty of Japanese craftsmanship into your home.
