Korean ash wood tabletop
A beautifully balanced ash wood tabletop, combining simplicity and softness. Its free-form shape, inspired by pebbles polished by water, evokes the soothing simplicity of traditional Korean furniture. The light wood, with its delicately veined texture, diffuses a soft light reminiscent of that found in the interiors of hanok (traditional Korean houses), where light woods contribute to the serenity of the space. A practical everyday object, it brings a natural and elegant presence to the table.
The technique and the decor
Crafted from solid ash, this tabletop is the result of meticulous woodworking. Each plank is selected for the fineness of its grain and the consistency of its color. Ash, a local species widely cultivated in Korea, is prized for its strength, lightness, and its ability to reveal the nuances of light on its surface. Its dense, resilient grain allows for the creation of delicate yet stable forms, achieved through careful bending and sanding. The wood is then polished to reveal the natural hue of the ash and protect the surface while retaining its matte and natural feel.
The organic silhouette, available in three formats in homothety invites various uses: tea tray, support for a snack, base for displaying ceramics or decorative objects.
