Ceramic and copper glaze cup from the Tokinoha workshop

Sale price€49,00

Tea or coffee cup with a rounded silhouette and deep blue glaze that lends it a refined presence, in the spirit of Kyoto Japanese ceramics.

The ceramicist
Founded in Kyoto by Daisuke and Tomoe Kiyomizu, the Tokinoha studio distinguishes itself through an approach that connects traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design (Daisuke is a descendant of the famous Kiyomizu family, guardians of Kyoto's kiyomizu-yaki tradition). The pieces, handmade by the studio's ceramicists, bear the mark of a reflection on simplicity and texture, seeking to express the beauty of everyday life through pure and balanced forms.

Technique and decoration
This tea or coffee cup is covered in a copper glaze that develops a deep blue hue during firing, punctuated with brown and turquoise highlights. This type of glaze, characteristic of the research conducted at the Tokinoha studio, presents a slightly granular surface and a subtle sheen resulting from the uneven fusion of copper at high temperatures. Depending on the thickness of the glaze and variations in the firing, the color deepens or lightens, creating the subtle transitions and almost metallic vibration unique to Tokinoha pieces.
