Ash-glazed kyūsu teapot from the Tokinoha workshop

Sale price€270,00

Japanese yokode kyūsu (side-handled) teapot in ceramic with a green glaze, shaded with soft blues, offering beautiful depth, while its darker core catches the light and fine brown drips subtly animate the interior. Balanced and refined, with a built-in ceramic filter, it can be used daily to prepare tea or infusions.

The ceramicist
Founded in Kyoto by Daisuke and Tomoe Kiyomizu, the Tokinoha studio is distinguished by an approach that bridges traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design (Daisuke is a descendant of the famous Kiyomizu family, guardians of the Kyoto kiyomizu-yaki tradition). The pieces, handcrafted by the studio's ceramicists, bear the mark of a reflection on simplicity and texture, seeking to express the beauty of everyday life through pure and balanced forms.

Technique and decoration
A glazed Japanese ceramic piece, this kyūsu teapot, crafted with great technical skill and adherence to tradition, features an ash glaze (haiyū) that produces this nuanced green, which can lean toward a pale blue near the rim. A finely drawn network of crackles (kannyū) covers the surface and enhances the effect of depth. In certain areas, a slight accumulation of glaze creates a darker tone. The browned drips indicate the fusion of the glaze and the presence of natural oxides from the clay and ash.
